Endless Love

Ceremony by The Sea

Presentation of the Bride

Who has the honor of presenting this woman to be joined in marriage to this man?

Opening Words

Welcome one and all to this beautiful place by the sea,

where the  waves roll in lazily breaking along the shore

where the seagulls fly free and the sunset slowly goes down

as you proclaim your love for each other.

Your love came softly upon each other’s hearts,  just as the sea foam lies softly before us..

We gather here today to have Bride and Groom become one by the border of this constant and unlimited force.

Bride and Groom would like to thank each one of you for being here and sharing in the joy of their wedding day.

Those with us in Spirit

(Here you have the option to acknowledge those who have passed on.)

Message to the Couple

The grains of sand under your feet represent the countless moments that have brought you to this place in time: your experiences, your friendships, your family, your journeys. They also represent the many days you will share together.

The ocean represents the endless supply of love that is present and while at times things may get wild and woolly like crashing waves, your love, like the ocean, is always present, and calm will come again.

The changing ebb and flow of the tides represents the inevitable changes within the constancy of your love.

The rocks represent the strength of your individual self that you can both rely upon in times of need.

Let the gentle breeze remind you not to take things too seriously and to let your hair down and laugh often.

The sun represents the warmth and passion of your friendship and love.

Let it shine on!

(or if its cloudy/rainy... even though today it is cloudy, your love like the sun will always shine)

[Officiant  :]

Bride and  Groom I would like to ask you to gather a pile of sand and hold it in your open hand.

Relationships--of all kinds--are like sand held in your hand.

Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is.

The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers.

You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled.

A relationship is like that.

Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact.

But held too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost forever.  (this section is optional)

(Officiant   asks the couple to release the sand on the ground and continues to speak)

Marriage is one of life’s most precious gifts.

It is an intimate union and equal partnership between two people in love.

It is learning how to compromise and together create solutions to conflict and it’s not just solving problems together but learning how to manage them.

It’s not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

Marriage is a way of life in which two people may provide each other companionship, comfort and most of all love.

Love is given to us by our family and by our friends.

We learn to love by being loved.

Love is listening, understanding and supporting each other.

Love is being completely honest with each other,

It is not trying to hurt or deceive the other person.

It is loyalty through good and bad.

Love is quiet, trusting and forgiving.

Love is unselfish and kind,

For it sees with its heart, and not with its mind.

Declaration of Intent

With this in mind:

Do you Groom, take Bride, to be your wedded wife

Do you pledge your love and devotion to her?

And do you vow to her as we stand beside the ocean

That your love is never ending

Like the waves that rush to shore?

Groom: I do

Do you Bride, take Groom, to be your wedded husband

Do you pledge your love and devotion to him?

And do you vow to him as we stand beside the ocean

That your love is never ending

Like the waves that rush to shore?

Bride: I do

Wedding Vows

The vows you will now take are beautiful words representing even more beautiful intentions.

But you will find that as you live these vows over the years,  investing your time and your love and your commitment to one another, the happy times of your life will be twice as joyous, because there will be someone to share those joys with.

And when life gets tough, it will only be half as bad, because there will be someone by your side to help carry the burden.

You may now say your vows to one another.

(if you are not saying your own vows you can say the following “Repeat After Me.” Vows)

Repeat After Me Vows

Now that you have declared your intentions, I ask you  GROOM to look into Brides’ eyes and, repeat after me.

I GROOM, take you, BRIDE, to be my wedded wife

I Pledge my love to you this day.

And I vow to you, as we stand beside the ocean

That my love is never ending

Like the waves that rush to shore.

The Ceremony of the Rings

The wedding rings are a sign of eternity. If you will notice these rings have no beginning and no end. They will represent the love and trust that you are promising to each other this day. Bride and Groom, may you wear them with deep faith in each other and may your love always be constant, as these never ending waves that pour beneath our feet, flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea.

To groom: Groom will you take this ring and place it upon Bride’s finger, and as you do, repeat to her, after me, these words:

“Bride, please wear this ring

as a symbol of my commitment to you,

That is as powerful and endless as the sea.”

To bride:

Bride will you take this ring and place it upon Groom’s finger, and as you do, repeat to him, after me, these words:

“Groom, please wear this ring

as a symbol of my commitment to you,

That is as powerful and endless as the sea.”

Unity Ceremony

(You may choose to add a Sand Ceremony, Wine Box and Love Letters or other ritual from samples provided to you.)

Before we leave this beautiful beach, and before you go forth as husband and wife, I would ask you to do one last thing for me.  On a day like today, where there is so much excitement and emotion with all the details and all the planning and the sincere hope that the day will go perfect, I don’t want the most important moment of this day to be fleeting.  When you wake up tomorrow, it will all be over. But right now, at this very moment, with your toes in the sand, the perfect blue water, the clear sky, in the presence of your family and friends, I want you to take a few seconds to look into each other’s eyes and think about the happiness you’re feeling.  Let that feeling consume your heart and your thoughts.

Now imagine 20 years have gone by.  Will you remember this moment? Will you be able to feel the tropical breeze? Remember the sound of the waves and the sweet smell of salt in the air?  Will you feel that leap in your heart thinking back to this moment?

I am confident that your future together will always allow you to return to this moment.  And it is with that confidence that I declare:

In as much as you Groom and you Bride have announced the truths already written in your hearts, by the power vested in me by the State of California and by the power of your love, I now pronounce you husband and wife.

Groom you may kiss your beautiful bride!”
